Kiran Sachdev is one of those rare personalities in music community whose zeal for excellence can be seen in the arts as well as the sciences. A software engineer by qualification, furthering her profession in the finance sector, and a pure artist as her true calling.
Hailing from an artistically inclined family, her affair with music started at the tender age of 5 when her father Vikramjit Singh Sachdev (a Hindi writer & inclined towards various art forms) who was trying his hand at Harmonium, observed her sitting along the music session and wanting to play along. He summoned her and tried to teach her the correct fingering for playing Harmonium. The melody in question was from an old Punjabi movie: “Uchcha Dar Baabe Nanak Da”, originally sung by legendry Punjabi singer Gurdas Mann. To his surprise in a few minutes she started to play the melody on her own. And it didn’t stop there. She picked up her next song, “Saare jahan se achcha” and completely played it on her own on the Harmonium. This was a very delightful moment for the art loving father. Further very carefully she was trained under the guidance under only expert music teachers.(ustads) she always stood up to the expectations of music ustads .She started performing independently Gurbani shabads with harmonium & table with proper ragas at the age of 6 parallel to Ragis at Guruparbs. It was always amusing to see by Ragis to little doll playing the Gurbani in Ragas with even large gatherings.
