Seeking Reliable Versatile Mature Bass Guitar - Busy Working Oldies Band - Paid Gigs
Looking for a skilled bass player who is available and wants to play - a lot.
Pro-level preferred, own transport, great gear.... age is no issue - but we are mature players with decades experience, a high energy level and strong work ethic - we play frequently i.e. once per week or more, all year. Gigs frequently come in bunches - 2, 3, 4 in a row, across the GTA & surrounding.
Rehearsals generally are only as needed - willing to work a new guy in as much as required, but prefer a bass player who can hit the ground running. We play most weekends, as well as occasional mid-week and daytime events.

Busy oldies band with a huge repertoire needs a bassist with a broad range of experience playing:
50s-60s
classic country twang and ballads
classic rock - which includes funky grooves, disco style grooves
blues - jump, swing, Chicago
rockabilly
reggae grooves
Latin grooves
Motown
Beatles
Stones
classic rock 70s-80s etc. We also dip into the 90s and 2000s - no hard rock, metal, grunge, etc.
all the usual party standards - yes, those ones
soft background/slow dance standards
golden oldies - while we are not a jazz band, we do a bunch of older standards with some chords to them
We are a high-energy party band playing mostly to older crowds. A mix of quieter and louder venues and audiences. Ability to play at various volumes is very important, all the way down to background music level.
Preference given to the jump-in type who knows and enjoys tons of titles in many styles & genres - our repertoire is 600+ titles; the most frequently played number around 100-200 titles.
Charts not supplied - most of the material is NOT rocket science.
We play in & around the GTA, from Hamilton/Brant to the west -- to Oshawa-Lindsay-Peterborough in the east -- and as far north as Barrie-Orillia.
NOTE: We are York Region based; preference given to a bass player in southern York Region, or north of the 401 if in Toronto.
Pro level chops, attitude, transportation, and critically AVAILABILITY are huge assets - we don't want to platoon, we don't want a roster of subs, we want one permanent band member who gets it and digs it. In other words:
Looking for an ultra-reliable, steady bass player to join this unit and stay. You're out there, we know it.
Please reply with your experience, background, availability and qualifications to become a permanent member of a busy working band with paid gigs all through the year, across the GTA & surrounding. Many thanks in advance!
