TL;DR - I play a few instruments, decent music theory, casual performance history. I’m looking for a band to start flexing my creative muscles. I’m out of practice, but that can be fixed. I’m moving back and forth from Toronto and the Kawartha Lakes.
Hello!
My name is Patrick, I just graduated high school, and I want to join a band.
I have played several instruments in some capacity since I was a little kid, but I am currently most capable on guitar, alto saxophone, and trumpet. I can pick up melodies by ear to an extent and I have foundational music theory knowledge (I couldn’t name each mode correctly, but I know what a mode is). I can read sheet music, but it’s painfully slow. My technical proficiency has atrophied from a lack of practice, but I will fix that. I have performed for my high school ensembles several times, but no serious gigs yet. I may sound sloppy at first (I am), but I’m a quick learner capable of pulling it together for a performance. Don’t let me let you down. Considering further musical lessons, but we’ll see.
Having just graduated, I’m looking for a way to continue working with music. I’m the type of person who only does that sort of thing if I commit to something larger than myself, which is why I decided that I should join a band. Not only that, but all I’ve ever really done are rote covers and recitals. I think it would be interesting if I were pressured to perform a more creative cover or write something original.
I’ll be moving to the Kawartha Lakes area for college, but for the summer and possibly weekends I am still living in Toronto. Anywhere between the two is fair game, but the distance would definitely determine my availability for rehearsal. I can’t speak to my specific availability yet, so let me know what sort of schedule you would expect.
If any of that sounds good, please don’t hesitate to ask further.
Cheers,
Patrick
