Hi! we're a band of 3 (Keys, drums, guitar) seeking a bass player (upright or electric). We like to play genres such as jazz, blues, funk, jazz fusion progressive. All of us are in our twenties and are amateur musicians. We meet pretty casually about 1-2 times a month to rehearse/jam. Occasionally we'll busk or attend jazz jams, and we have some experience playing more formal/paid gigs too.
Usually, before meeting, we'll pick a few songs to prepare and play them together at rehearsal. Some examples include: A variety of jazz standards, "What about me" Snarky puppy, "Spain" Chick Corea, "Tank!" Cowboy Bebop. We usually like to improvise on common tunes.
In terms of experience, we're looking for someone with moderate-advanced experience who is at least familiar with some of the most common jazz standards and enjoys improvisation.
Here's some recordings from a recent rehearsal session https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1tAjJZqrc_mEIRF5o75g7EntYdvglHPDO?usp=sharing
Please excuse the sub-optimal audio quality (we were only able to use a single room mic).
In terms of location, we are spread out over the GTA (scarborough, brampton, richmond hill). We usually meet a Jam Chamber (keele/401).
Let me know if interested!
