Swingstreet currently has an opening for an experienced 2nd / solo trumpet player.
This person should be comfortable reading music and improvising in big band and combo.

We rehearse in north Oshawa in a fantastic clubhouse with great acoustics. In lieu of using this facility, we perform one or two free jobs per year; at least one by the big band. Our rehearsals are Monday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. We generally take rehearsal off during the summer, but still play gigs.

Swingstreet was started in 2022 and has become a sought-after group in Durham Region, playing many city and public events. Our charts are challenging and well-written by noted arrangers. Our musical choices are more contemporary, but we still play lots of Count Basie and other swing composers. We play for crowds of the 50s and 60s through to the present. However, our library accommodates special concerts we may be asked to play for the 30s and 40s in true big-band fashion; or even funk and disco concerts.

Swingstreet is all about great music and great friendships. We love to hear our audience gush over our big sound and joyful music.
